The British heavyweight repeated his controversial remarks about being prepared to “kill” his opponent during a press event in Miami on Wednesday.

His words were originally stated on Tuesday when the boxer was asked if he would show restraint against the social media star, responding that “if I can kill you, I'll kill”.

The upcoming fight against the YouTuber-turned-boxer has attracted concern over the risk involved and the size difference between the two competitors.

Fury Labels AJ a “Disgrace”

Ex- world heavyweight champion The Gypsy King labeled Joshua a “classless loser” for his inflammatory language.

But Joshua, explained his stance: “This is what I do, we fight. We have a license that permits extreme violence.

“I understand many people don't understand it but this is what my job is. I just enjoy what I do. Whatever happens, happens - as long as my hand is raised, that's what's paramount, with all due respect.”

He continued, “That's just the mentality we have to have as warriors. I'm unsure if other boxers think that way. Maybe they're a bit more reserved. The way my mind works. When you're in the squared circle, it's a perilous thing. Anything can happen.”

“You pray your opponent exits the ring in good health, but if they don't, you still have to go to bed aware you just did your job. It was not personal.”

Jake Paul's Fiery Retort

Jake Paul, a huge underdog in the fight as a career lighter fighter, was equally combative in his reply.

“This is a modern day combat sport,” Paul said. “I'm prepared. I want his strongest punches. I want there to be no excuses when it's all over. We should kill each other.”

Joshua will face his opponent, in his twenties, at Miami's Kaseya Center in a bout many consider a significant mismatch, with some suggesting it should have been approved as an non-professional fight.

The official fight will be contested over 8 three-minute stanzas using standard 10oz gloves, with a stipulated maximum weight for Joshua.

He Says He Was “Called In to Rescue” Boxing

Despite the graphic language used, the fighter said he has been “brought in to save” the sport of boxing.

“They want me to put an end to the Jake Paul show and I understand it and that's why I have to bear boxing on my back in this fight,” he added.

The event also had more humorous exchanges, with Joshua smiling as his rival sang a nursery rhyme to him.

The final staredown passed without incident, with the underdog striking a odd pose before Joshua remained composed and lightly touched Paul's chain.

Paul & Joshua Dismiss Pre-Arranged Allegations

The surreal aspect of this fight has led to speculation about its legitimacy, including suggestions that Joshua may be prohibited from knocking Paul out.

“There are no clauses in the agreement, AJ can confirm it. We're going to battle,” Paul said.

Joshua, sporting a valuable necklace, jokingly added, “The only thing in the agreement that got my interest was the purse.”

Paul has claimed on his platforms that the total purse will be exceptionally high.

Paul first made his name as an digital influencer, gathering a huge online audience.

He has not faced anyone of Joshua's calibre but maintained that his rival would take him seriously.

“It's smart on his part,” Paul said. “This could possibly be, and will be, the greatest loss of his career.”

A win for the underdog would be arguably the biggest upset in the boxing's annals.

It would undoubtedly leave an indelible mark on his legacy, but the athlete stated it would not spell the end.

“I'd return again, move on,” he remarked. “I'll be headlining again in a couple of years. That's life. I'm a competitor in the game.”
